Shipping was fast and once it arrived it took me about 5 mins to install. So far I smoked a Spactchcock chicken and a 8 pound pork butt.. The chicken and butt turned out the best eveR. The downdraft seems to hold more smoke in chamber and a lot more smoke comes out of my drip bucket opening.. it also keeps the heat even. It’s no longer shines and it will only get dirtier. Thanks Don!

I like a heavier smoke than I've been able to achieve on my RT700. So this product's claim to hold smoke in the chamber was a natural for me. Shipping was prompt, quality of construction was excellent and installation was a breeze. For me, this product lived up to its claim and was a great addition to my cooker.

I haven’t had a chance to use it yet, other than the first burn in, but it is well built and mounted with with ease

This thing is a game changer to pellet smokers. As clean and efficient as they sometimes you just want a little more some and this is the answer. The smoke will find higher leaks on the Grill mine was on the hinge of my RecTec Bull but a piece of folded butcher paper did the trick.

Bought my first Godke’s down draft a few years ago for my RECTEC 680. It heaped to maintain even temp, lowered pellet consumption, kept the smoke where the food is. So naturally when I bought ordered my second RECTEC 700 I also place an order for a Godke’s downdraft to have when I put it together. Should partner and sell together.
1 drawback is both of my RECTEC smoker have the cold smoke box attachment. With the extra metal thickness of the box and support plate the stainless bolts supplied are a washer too short so would be nice to have an option to get longer bolts. (Easily remedied by going to McMaster Carr website and ordering 1/4” longer with over night delivery.

Yes it was worth it! I have used it for about 6 months in warm weather and in Wisconsin winters and it has made a world of difference. I was always trying to get more and better smoke on my REC TEC 680. Nothing did as good of a job as the down draft. Quality, easy to install, more smoke, and less pellets-just like everyone else. I like a lot of smoke without over smoking and getting the bitter ashy taste. It definitely did the job.

Works just like it should. I was considering building something similar on my own but did some searching and found this. well worth the improvement. Makes the smoke hold much lower by the grates.
