161. Does what it claims

     First I have to give the only negative comments I will have about this great product. When you receive your Downdraft be extremely careful upon open it. The edges of the material are extremely sharp and if not handled correctly can cut you severely. I have worked with metal so it was not an issue for me. You can and should correct this by using a file and Draw file the edges or less used the edge of my steel ruler and drew it across all the edges. 5 mins. and your ready to go.
     Installation was straightforward and only took 5 minutes. I used the Hardware that Don sent plus the two outer washers supplied by GMG. Works perfect looks unassuming and stock romantic the outside. What you want.
     I couldn't wait to break this baby in and try it out. Break in is simple and it's to get any trace of manufacturing oils/ materials off . 350 for an hour, done. I noticed right off that I was making more smoke at a higher temp. even after it reached temp. Not continously but every time it cycled. I made note how much more quickly my DB came to temp. Now I don't have a blanket and it was 23*F so I was cycling more than most. I am considering that next. My temp was more stable than prior cooks. I played with the vent and decided that for me until my skill level increases, that it will remain closed. I like how it increases the Smoke at higher temps. As some of you have seen my post a 2.5 hour smoke on a pork loin yielded a beautiful smoke ring indicating the penetration. A definite improvement over stock.
     I have done about 12 cooks since receiving my " Godke" and am extremely satisfied with the performance. Well worth the money. I highly recommend this product to anyone with a pellet smoker. Stainless steel,this product taken care of and cleaning as recommended will probably outlive your grill. Good job Don. I would look into the edge issue. I personally don't think it would add more than 5 mins to the manufacturing process and then it would not catch an excited smoker/ grilled tearing the well packed box open in excitement from an injury, nuff said it still gets av5 out of 5 for its construction, appearance, and most of all performance.

     I listen to the Owners and have applied extra steps to deburr the edges, welds (inside & outside). These extras steps require more time, it's all labor intensive, but provides a better product to the Owners.

163. awesome downdraft pellet saver and smoky flavor

     Installed one on both of my Gmg's temps were more even, pellet consumption was down, smoke ring was more defined.
     
     You won't regret purchasing this product.

     Delivered quickly. This downdraft does everything it promises. Better temps, better smoke, and faster warmups with better pellet consumption. Best of all: Don Godke is very knowledgeable and readily available to assist his customers if needed. I highly recommend the downdraft.
